Maulik Shah

Maulik Shah is an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Software Engineer at Johnson Controls and a researcher at heart, based out of Milwaukee, WI. At JCI, Maulik has led a team to produce an integration API connecting the intelligent building models, has implemented a reliability analysis model for equipment, and has modeled database for building-systems. Unfortunately, he lost his job, effective May-8, to Coronavirus pandemic.

In May 2019, Maulik graduated from the University of Georgia with a master's degree in AI and has a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from Gujarat Technological University, India. In his most significant achievements, Maulik published a research paper, "Scalable Decision-Theoretic Planning in Open and Typed Multiagent Systems", at AAAI-2020. Additionally, Maulik has worked on practical machine learning - deep learning modeling projects involving datasets like fMRI images, spam documents, etc. as large as hundreds of GBs, using PyTorch, Spark, R, and other popular data science technologies. Over to that, Genetic Algorithms for solving optimization problems and human decision-making theories have also served as interest areas to him.

Before joining the UGA, Maulik worked for four years as a technical consultant for Evolutionary Systems Pvt. Ltd. dealing primarily with Oracle ERP and SOA technologies. While in UGA, Maulik worked on-campus with the SIS team at EITS, where he assisted the team in data engineering. For his excellent service at EITS, Maulik was awarded UGA Student Employee of the Year 2017. Respecting his duties towards society, Maulik volunteers for Code for Milwaukee and SEL literacy in Milwaukee. While in UGA, he was part of the UGA graduate school leadership program and also volunteered at UGA Red Cross, Speak out for species (SOS) UGA, etc.
